In 1998, Sudbury Transit once again went back to Orion Bus Industries who were promoting the Orion 6 or "VI". The Orion VI was a different looking bus all together, with the front of the bus similar to the "V" model, the bus was completely low floor and featured the exit door at the complete rear of the bus with optional middle door. They featured the Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine and Allison B400R transmission. These buses came with their own problems as well. Within the first few months of operation, some suffered minor engine compartment fires. With most major problems solved over the years, these buses are still in service today and have been through the rebuild process.
Retired from service : 984 due to transmission failure.
